Waypoint Public | San Diego

Sitting on the corner of North Park Way and 30th in North Park, Waypoint Public is a fantastic spot for a casual weekend brunch. Mr. San Diego and I had never eaten here before and we loved that it felt so quintessentially San Diego.  Two walls of roll-up windows made us feel as though we were sitting in a breezy beachside diner.

All of the details of the interior really make this place a hip-yet-casual spot. I adored the wood planked walls, assorted chairs, bright colors, and awesome antler chandelier. Their walls of open windows are lined with bar-top seating so that you can observe all the happenings of North Park and people watch. If you have kids, they have a very cool section dedicated just for your littles to play and watch a movie. It was such a family friendly spot and even friendlier to the beer and breakfast lovers.

Mr. San Diego was intrigued when he discovered they had a Bloody Beer on their menu. Just like a Bloody Mary but with beer instead of vodka! He loved it. I’m not a fan of Bloody Mary mix but I have to admit that it wasn’t half bad.

To eat, I decided on the Chicken and Biscuit Sandwich that came with a side of their spiced maple reduction that made this meal even better. It was a little messy since it was slightly difficult to eat but it was so delicious that I found a way to make it work. Mr. San Diego chose the WP Basic Breakfast that was, as the name suggests, pretty basic but had a side of what appeared to be house-made jam that set this dish apart.

Prices were reasonable, beer selection was large, ambience was loud but fun, and the food was delicious. For a first visit, we were impressed!
