This is my very own Julie and Julia moment! I haven’t been this excited about a cookbook EVER, and Half Baked Harvest Super Simple by Tieghan Gerard has become my newest hyperfocus! I love cookbooks because they encompass three things I passionately love - books, food, and photography. I can’t wait to cook my way through this book and see how my cooking and photography skills grow!

Half Baked Harvest

If you’ve never heard of Half Baked Harvest or Tieghan Gerard, allow me to enlighten you. Tieghan has a wildly successful food blog, halfbakedharvest.com, that got her featured in wildly popular magazines and networks, which lead to two best-selling cookbooks - Half Baked Harvest, and Half Baked Harvest Super Simple.

Tieghan’s Instagram page is what first caught my attention and I knew she was a foodie after my own heart. I immediately purchased both her cookbooks and was AMAZED to discover that I wanted to cook every single recipe in both books. That has never happened before - I like other cookbooks but usually only cook about 15% of the recipes. I was blown away as I flipped through the pages, and I quickly realized that I was giddy with excitement and incredibly motivated and inspired!

My Game Plan

My plan is to cook every recipe from the Super Simple cookbook, with the exception of the shellfish recipes. I have a BUNCH of food allergies, so I’ll also be making modifications along the way.

Additionally, I really want to get better at food photography, so I plan to use this as an opportunity to learn how to plate and photograph food like a true professional.

I won’t be putting a timeline on myself. Life is busy and I don’t want to burn myself out. Plus, I’m too excited about this to turn it into a chore.

Since I bought all of Tieghan’s books, I’ll be throwing in some of the other recipes as well, but my primary focus will be on Super Simple. I’ll be sharing my finished products, along with snippets about the recipes on how they turned out!

I can’t wait to see how much I’ve learned at the end of this adventure. Wish me luck!
